we would like to find clean budsget place to stay one or two night in ft myers or bonita springs as a touring base for everglades; anywhere without giant mutant cockroaches will do !!

You might want to consider staying in Naples. There is a nice, affordably priced hotel called Bayfront Inn on Fifth that just completed a major renovation. It was formerly a Comfort Inn and is an excellent value. The hotel has a website at http://www.bayfrontinnnaples.com. This hotel is both clean and won%26#39;t break the bank. I would highly recommend staying here and don%26#39;t think that you%26#39;ll find a better value anywhere else. The Everglades National Park is only about a half an hour from Naples.
