recommendations for a weekend visit to Miami?

My girlfriend and I are going to be in Miami on the weekend of March 24th. We%26#39;ve never been to Miami before, so we%26#39;re not sure exactly where to stay or what to do. We love to eat, we like sidewalk cafes and people-watching, shopping, the beach, and maybe a little dancing at night (she%26#39;s good, I%26#39;m learning). We%26#39;d also like to explore the town without having to drive around too much. It sounds like South Beach would be a good place for us to stay, but it seems like many of the hotels are booked full already. Is the Miami Beach area good too? Or are there other areas we should check out? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

You are on the right track. South Beach is where you want to stay - but know it will be expensive as it%26#39;s Spring Break. South Beach is actually part of Miami Beach and is generally considered the most southern 2 miles or so of Miami Beach. Miami Beach is a completely separate city from Miami. Although they are close in proximity, they are a world apart.

Call around or search the web for there%26#39;s got to be some rooms still available. If not, you can start looking more north (North Miami Beach) but this will change your experience.

Take a look at the information (Forum, Attractions, Hotels, etc.) on this web site under ';Miami Beach'; rather than ';Miami'; and I think you get some answers to your questions. If not, post your question on the ';Miami Beach'; forum as it%26#39;s more focused to what you are looking for!

I hope that helps!

Cheers...

I%26#39;ve stayed in the Wyndham on Miami Beach which was nice. I got a ByRequest rate(their membership program) of $99.00 for a 15th floor room with a view of the ocean. it%26#39;s a 3-4 star hotel.
