Orlando in August...Stupid, Stinky, HOT ?!?

We are flying home via Miami from Ecuador in August. How bad is it in the theme parks (temperature and crowding)? We are a family of four with a 10 and an 8 year old. Will they be able to bear it? We were thinking of going out to Sanibel/Captiva as well.

I beg to differ...in August 2005 the queue for most rides at all the parks was less than 20 minutes. The exceptions were the Pteradactyl thing at Universal where only 2 were running and %26#39;Soarin%26#39; at Epcot. My only comments about August is that it is of course hurricane season so expect short sharp heavy showers in the afternoons.

Oh, and yes, it is stinkingly hot but our 8 year old coped well especially once he%26#39;d got his fan/spray thingy filled with water.

it was extremley hot and humid when we went in August but a few tips, buy a pack of baby wipes and keep in fridge over night to carry round the parks lovley and refeshing to cool down with, also frozen drinks and fan sprays are good ideas

If you go around the last week of August, the crowds seem to be dimished some because most schools have started back by then. Early to mid-August is pretty darn crowded.

It will be, as you said, stupid hot and humid every day in August, however. It will also probably rain every day too.

August can also be the beginning of the ';serious'; hurricane season too. The NWS is predicting another very active hurricane season this year. I feel for you Florida natives!!! I know you%26#39;re ready to cry, ';UNCLE'; already.

Perhaps you are wearing incorrect footwear. Have you considered including a pair of flip flops in your wardrobe for this vacation.

Flip flop are this season%26#39;s fashion statement. They are happening man and you too could be in the groove - if you wear FLIP FLOPS.

People all over America are turning to flip flops when it gets tooooo hot. It is not bad in any park when you wear flip flops because you will be soooo cooool man.
