Swimming in the keys

Anyone know of good places to stay in the keys where the water is deep enough and swimming friendly.

Waters by the Keys beaches are not very deep in general. I can suggest Bahia Honda State Park on Big Pine Key (about 45mn north of Key West) where the beach on the bay side is much deeper than the ocean side. It is just beautiful there.

There is also in Key West the beach in Fort Zachary Taylor Park. It gets deep almost right away. However, it is a stony beach you may want to have special shoes if your feet are sensitive. Usually it is a quiet beach, watching the sunset is just beautiful there.

Sombrero Beach in Marathon is another nice beach too on the ocean side.

As far as accomodation, there is so much choice ! It depends on what you want : hotel, apartment ? and how long you want to stay ?

Thanks, Lovethekeys. My wife and I are looking for a romantic setting, probably a hotel, carribean in feel but closer to home. We can go anytime from now thru late spring.

Cost not that big an issue.
