Look at www.fmbchamber.com. There are many, many accommodations on the island that would accommodate your needs. You might want to be reasonably close to Time Square, which is where most of the action is. There are businesses all up and down Estero Blvd., but there are many clustered around Time Square. Plus, there is a long, public fishing pier and there is a nightly sunset celebration.

Try the website fortmyers-sanibel

They have some good ideas for things to do... There is Busch Gardens in Tampa, which is kind of like Disney, but more on the nature side.

You can go deep sea fishing, explore some nature preserves, check out the mangroves and the everglades (take a jet boat tour) - and enjoy the sun! Hope it helps!

I noticed that your message carries the title, ';Sanibel';. If it is Sanibel you are interested in, then I suggest you visit the Sanibel Island discussion board here on Trip Advisor and check back through recent posts for lots of different kinds of information.

Prices on Sanibel are very much lower starting at the end of April. Late April, early May would be an excellent time for a visit if the boys are able to be away from school. The humidity picks up quite a bit after that, but is made somewhat more bearable by the Gulf breezes...still, it can get quite hot during summer.

If the boys need a bit of ';action';, one can always drive back over the causeway to Ft. Myers Beach for some of that. It%26#39;s not far at all. However, most families stay fully occupied on Sanibel with ';non-Disney'; things such as biking or roller blading on the 26 miles of flat paths, tennis, beach and pool time, fishing at the pier or on a chartered boat, kayaking / canoeing in Tarpon Bay. Just spending some time getting to know one another in a relaxed, unhurried environment...playing board games and conversing. If that type vacation holds appeal, then Sanibel may just be the right place for your families.
