Silver Springs

It sounds so pretty with the glass bottom boat rides and a jungle cruise. Has anybody ever been there? Also how far from Orlando is it? Thanks.

Silver Springs

Hi not sure if this is any use or not but we went there 13 years ago and loved the place. Obviously it may have changed a lot since then, so I can only comment on our experience. We are going again in 2 weeks, but not planning to visit here again as we felt the once was enough and did find it difficult getting there - may have had something to do with my map reading!

Hope this helps

Allie

Silver Springs

I don%26#39;t know where in Orlando you are staying, but generally, it would be about 2 hours north of most of the tourist area. You would take I-4 to the Turnpike. Go north on the Turnpike until it dead ends at I-75. Take I-75 north to Ocala, and exit on eastbound SR40 to Silver Springs. You can also take the ';scenic'; route, up Highway 27, to Highway 301 north into Ocala to SR40. You can also exit the Turnpike onto Highway 301 north, for the ';semi scenic'; route.

If you are the type who would enjoy the Everglades or airboat alligator tours, you will probably enjoy Silver Springs. They do have a webside that covers all the attractions at the park. It%26#39;s a good idea to go during the cooler weather, so you aren%26#39;t fighting mosquitos the whole time. Take some Off Towelettes with you just in case.

Two hours travelling is probably a maximum - it should take less. We haven%26#39;t been for a few years but you%26#39;re right, it is pretty and well worth a visit. The animals seem well cared for and I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;d be disappointed.

Thanks for the tips. I visited the web site and a friend of mine has been there she told me I would like it.

As with everyone, it has been several years since we have been but loved it then. The water was crystal clear and the glass bottom boat rides were great. Beautiful place.

Very cool place! There has been lots of movies filmed there. They have animals and educational reptile shows. The glass bottom boats are the highlight of course.

My tour company has a good number of groups travel there.

2 hours tops travel time, most likely a little less.
