I just checked the Universal Orlando web site an they have significantly reduced the cost of the Express Pass Plus option. They are now charging on $15 for a 1 day/1 park and $25 for a 1 day/2 park Express Pass Plus (in addition to the regular admission). The catch is the dates are somewhat limited: 1/2 - 2/10, 2/13 - 2/17, 2/20 - 2/24, 2/26 - 3/10, 3/20 - 3/24, 4/24 - 5/18, 8/28 - 9/1, 9/4 - 11/21 and 11/26 - 12/20/2006. One would assume they will sell a more expensive Express Pass Plus ticket at the gate during peak/holiday periods.

I think they are making things very confusing and somewhat unfair. If a family has to save and budget all year (or sometimes more than a year) to afford an Orlando vacation, only to stand in line for hours because the people who can afford it have basically cut in line in front of them, it%26#39;s just not right. I prefer the Fastpass type method, where everyone is on the same level, it%26#39;s just first come, first serve.
I know someone mentioned that Disney might be thinking of changing Fastpass as well, but I hope they don%26#39;t. I don%26#39;t see how they could know who was a resort guest by their ticket. I have an annual pass, so sometimes I%26#39;m there for the day, sometimes I%26#39;m there at a resort for a week. You can%26#39;t tell that by the ticket. I think it should be fair for everyone.

Fair to me would mean we all stand in line together no matter whatand I wouldn%26#39;t have a problem with that. However as long as they offer the advantage for what I think is a reasonable price then I%26#39;ll take advantage of it. After all I have a great deal of money and time invested in the trip and I don%26#39;t want to spend my time standing in line if there is an option. An additional small percentage of the total cost of the trip seems reasonable. I certainly think an additional $15 is not out of line considering Disney costs a lot more to begin with. Has anyone noticed that for shows like Indiana Jones that almost all the seats are taken by Fast Pass holders and those poor people who have stood in line for an hour or more don%26#39;t get in. I think that%26#39;s taking the Fast Pass system too far. I think any show should have about a 50/50 mix with Fast Pass and standby people.
The Express Pass Plus has always been priced on the time of year it was.
I never saw Express Pass Plus priced at $15 for any time of the year last year. It was always $30 on their web page at least for the last half of %26#39;05. We were there at Christmas %26#39;05 and I had been looking at all the ticket prices for the last half of the year before our trip and I never saw any variance in price. I know the price was around $30 4 years ago too during October when we were there and bought them.
I bought the Express Pass Plus option for two days during Xmas week, 05, for $15 for a 1 day/1 park and $25 for a 1 day/2 park. I bought it way ahead of time on the Universalorlando website (it must have been Oct)! Then I noticed that they stopped selling it on the website. People I met at the parks said they paid a lot more for it, so you do need to plan ahead. Only trouble is if you have bad weather, you%26#39;re held to having to go to the park on that date (or lose the $). I like the option of being able to stay off property and still get fast pass, otherwise I think you really need to stay on property. I wouldn%26#39;t do Universal %26amp; IOA without it.
