My husband and I are looking for a hotel within walking distance of the water taxi. We will be spending a Saturday evening dining and drinking on Las Olas and do not want to have to drive. Any ideas?

There are not many. The Mariott Marina (Not the Harbor Beach) and the Hyatt Pier 66 are both on the route, I believe, but the Marriot had major hurricane damage and has closed down at least half it%26#39;s rooms and the Hyatt is being renovated and folks are mighty unhappy when staying there. You might be able to walk across 17th Street from the Marriot to the Holiday Inn Express Convention Center. The Doubletree Galleria on Sunrise is on the Water Taxi route but is undergoing a condo conversion- I think they may be still renting rooms. The Days Inn Bahia Cabana is not very upscale but right on the Water Taxi route- also the Bahia Mar Hotel and Yacht Club, Best Western Oceanside and Yankee Clipper Sheraton would also be fairly nearby that stop.
However, you may not be aware that Water Taxi is changing it%26#39;s routes, raising fares and leaving out some stops because of a financial dispute with the county government. If you visit their website at www.watertaxi.com they have information posted but I don%26#39;t know which stops are affected.
If you plan to confine your partying to Las Olas Boulevard, the Riverside Hotel is right there. Reviews once again are mixed depending on whether you get an older or recently renovated room. It would not be inexpensive. You do not mention when you are arriving , but until after Easter holidays , you will be in the height of our tourist season and will find many hotels very expensive and possibly booked solid with tourists and pre and post cruise travelers.
Before deciding, I would definitely verify with Water Taxi to make sure they are still going to your hotel- all in all you might be just as well off taxing a traditional taxi back to a hotel of your choice.

The Sheraton Yankee Trader is also just a 5-10 minute walk from a water taxi stop but I%26#39;m not sure whether it%26#39;s a good idea to rely on it during the evenings as it stops very early - around 10pm.
Sorry, I have no idea of costs but you may be better off getting a proper taxi to return to your chosen hotel.
I had forgotten that there is a Water Taxi stop behind the Yankee Trader, I think perhaps at or near the Pillars Hotel which is a little boutique hotel that gets great reviews here. It%26#39;s quite expensive, but it would be another possibility along with the Yankee Trader which would be a few blocks to walk. Beware of most other hotels along the Beachfront in the vicinity of Yankee Trader. The San Tropez, Sea Club and a few others that have not been torn down for redevelopment are still open, but pretty awful. The Atlantic is the newestcondo-hotel- very, very expensive. I think we%26#39;ve pretty much covered all possibilities now.
