I%26#39;m going to be vacationing from 4/14 to 4/22 and looking for a great place to spend time in Florida with a 7 %26amp; 10 year old. We%26#39;ve been to Florida twice and visited Disney World, Clearwater Beach and Cocoa Beach. Any other great places worth mentioning? I was considering spending a week at the beach, but hoping there would also be some other entertainment for the kids nearby, such as waterslides or a lazy river.
best beach for kids in Florida
April can be somewhat chilly for me on the Emerald Coast b/c I prefer 80 and better...mostly better!! :) Shipwreck Island doesn%26#39;t open until Memorial Day wknd so you wouldn%26#39;t have the water park to go to. The Putt Putt courses should be open but not sure. Have you been to Busch Gardens? Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure? Sea World? I know you said you have been to Clearwater Beach but you could consider St Pete and tap on a day at Busch Gardens or maybe even take an extra day and go to Sea World. From TPA to MCO it%26#39;s about an hour%26#39;s drive so not too bad.
Another suggestion would be Captivia Island or Sanibel Island. They are BEAUTIFUL places to go, very peaceful, nice clear water BUT they may be too ';boring'; for teens. I know my 14 yr old would get very bored down there. The days on the beach would probbly be ok but at night she%26#39;d want an arcade, putt putt or something ';fun'; to do.
I%26#39;m not aware of any major water parks or resorts w/water slides, lazy rivers etc anywhere in FL other than central FL around Orlando and Tampa.
When you were at Cocoa Beach did you go to NASA and tour Space Center? It%26#39;s pretty cool.
Hope these suggestions and ideas help some.
Good luck.
Karen
