Going May 5th to the 12th. Going to MK,AK, Epcot and MGM what time is best to stop for lunch so that we don%26#39;t hit the crowds? Are the Character lunches good?
Best Time for lunch?
In the theme parks, lunch crowds are usually bad from just before 11:00 A.M. all the way up to about 2:00 P.M. or even later.
We%26#39;ve tried to eat lunch at Magic Kingdom as late as 2:30 P.M. before, and still had to wait in a long line over at Peco Bill Cafe.
Best Time for lunch?
If you want to dine in a table service restaurant, and you don%26#39;t have a reservation, your best shot is to go when they first open, or even a little before if you see them setting up. In fact, for any restaurant that either doesn%26#39;t serve breakfast, or has a break between breakfast and lunch seatings, your best bet is to go when they open. Another option is to go to a nearby resort for lunch. Their restaurants typically are busy for breakfast and dinner, but not for lunch.
We normally try to eat a late lunch somewhere around 2:00. That way we miss the HUGE lunch crowds and there are usually shorter lines for rides during the typical lunch hours because everyone else eating or waiting in line for food.
As others have already said, we usually eat late or early to avoid the crowds. 2:00 - 3:00 seems to work well for us.
Crystal Palace is the only restaurant offering a lunch character meal and has a buffet that is good. Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, and Piglet are the characters here. Our favorite dinner character meal is The Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom that has a wonderful Thansgiving family style dinner complete with Turkey, steak, salad with a delicious strawberry vingarette dressing, (They will give you the recipe if you ask for it) Macaroni and Cheese, veggies, potatoes, biscuits and dessert. Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale come around often to your table.
Another Character lunch at MK is A Fairytale Lunch Cinderella%26#39;s Castle. But be aware that if you are doing the dining plan, it uses 2 table services per person.
