Carribean vs. Coronado..which one has better amenities? Which one is cleaner?
Moderate Resorts
Have been to Carribean, but not Coronado. Carribean is ok, but have you thought of Port Orleans, Riverside. Beautiful surroundings, nice pools, can hire boats, bikes and carriages and can take a boat to Downtown Disney. Can also use the facilities at Port Orleans, French Quarter. To my mind, Riverside tops Carribean by a long way. The Downside, probably for the older generation and for little ones, is that although in beautiful grounds, you could end having to walk a fairly long way from your room to the food courts. Suggest you look at www.allearsnet.com, which seems to be a popular site recommended by other TAs, and I have found it very useful too. Enjoy your hols.
Moderate Resorts
As far as facilities go, all the moderate resorts are nice. I think the main reason a lot of us prefer Port Orleans is the fact that since the resort originated as two separate resorts, there are two ';lobby'; buildings with food courts, etc. and it doesn%26#39;t seem like you have to walk as far to reach one, as it does at the Caribbean or Coronado. That seems to be one of the biggest complaints. It all boils down to the different themeing and which one you would prefer: Southwest, Caribbean, or New Orleans/Louisiana. Do a search on the forum to see which buildings are closest to the food court/lobby at each resort, and you will be fine no matter which one you select.
I would choose the Carribean over the Coronado, but my favorite moderate is Port Orleans Riverside. Because they are all moderates they%26#39;ll have the same amenities. We have found all of the Disney properties we visited to be clean and we%26#39;ve always had great service. Never had a bad time at any of them.
Hello SublimeBlue,
My vote would be for the Caribbean Beach of the two. However my favorite moderate resort is the Port Orleans Riverside.
P.S. Fla4Fun, looks like it%26#39;s official! Congratulations once again. Enjoy!
As others before me, out of the two I would go with Caribbean. But given full choice of the moderates I would go with Port Orleans Riverside. It is our favorite.
I too had first picked the PO but then didn%26#39;t find too much for the kids to do there. It just seemed that Carribean and Coronado had more kid themed fun. Pirate ships, explorer digs, etc.
Regarding PO tell me about the pools, beaches, activities that are available.
The pools at PO are really great. Two of them are large with water slides. One is at POFQ and has a huge sea serpent slide and the other is Ol Man Island at POR. There are various other quiet pools all around both properties. If you are a guest in either PO section you can use the pools in either. They also have regular and family sized bike rentals, catch-n-release fishing, carriage rides, walking trails, an arcade, a playground if you have little ones and various watercraft rentals. One of the best things is the proximity to DTD and the easy boat launch to it.
Sublime as trecord said there is alot to do for the kids actually more so at the PO than the Caribbean.
ok...then back to the original plan...PO
LOL
I need a drink! Planning a Disney Vacation is exhausting!
