we will be staying in marathon march 2-12. wondering if the island is in good shape after the hurricane. are there resturants open?

Yes, most everything is open in Marathon since Hurricane Wilma. We had a 5-7 foot storm surge so many plants and trees and the grass that were covered by the salt water are brown. But they are gradually coming back and you may not even notice by March.

All restaurants are now open except for The Quay which sustained extreme damage from the Gulf flooding. You will have many choices to pick from.

Ocean1Sue responded about the restuarants and said the Quay had alot of damage. Sue if you are out there, is the Tiki Bar gone? It was our favorite %26#39;dive%26#39; in the Keys! If anyone knows what happened to it please let me know. I can be reached at jaxbb3@yahoo.com

Unfortunately, the Quay%26#39;s tiki bar and restaurant were so damaged by the storm surge that they are suppose to be torn down. But The Island Tiki Bar %26amp; Grille (Now called The Island Fish Company %26amp; Tiki) are open and just a block down from the Quay on the water. This tiki bar suffered some damage but now is back better than ever! (Good Kahlua Coladas there!)

Thanks for the info even though it wasn%26#39;t what I wanted to hear. We always enjoyed Connie who was behind the tike bar. Do you know if she come out of the storm Ok and if she is working somewhere else?

The other Tiki Bar sounds nice but you coulod not beat the burgers and fish sandwiches at the Quay Tike bar.
