We are planning a short 4 day trip to Ft. Myers, basically to catch two Red Sox games. We will be arriving at the bus terminal and really do not want to rent a car for this short of a time.

We are looking into staying at the Best Western Gateway...do you think we will be OK with local taxi service to the beach and ball park??? Is this hotel pretty close to the City of Palms field as well as a beach?

Any thoughts would be really appreciated!!!

Thought i would try to help. I am also going down in march and did alot of research. Your about 22 minutes from the field. I also heard bus service was horrible and the cab rides could be quite expensive, so you might be better off just renting a cab. hope it helped alittle.

Renting depends on when your 4 days are... I just saw an add on TV that someone has a 50% off deal if you rent from Thursday to Monday. (For the life of me I can%26#39;t remember which rental car place it was tho.)

I hope it%26#39;s not too far...I%26#39;m from Massachusetts and will be staying at the same hotel. Can%26#39; wait...GO SOX!!

Be prepared that the area surrounding the park is not particularly nice. Not sure what you are expecting, but be careful if you are planning to be in town. Taxi will be somewhat expensive, and you also have to eat somewhere at night - how will you get to restaurants if you don%26#39;t rent a car? Wouldn%26#39;t you like to see a nice area of Florida while you are there - perhaps one night take a drive to Fort Myers Beach? By the time you add up how much it costs with all those cab fares, renting a car is cheaper and more convenient.
