Trip Report

We just returned from our first Key West vacation - Feb. 5-10 and can%26#39;t wait to go again. I would really like to thank the Tripadvisor members for all of their suggestions - they really helped make our trip a success. Per their recommendations, we stayed at the Gardens Hotel, which was a terrific experience - beautiful grounds, lovely room, and great service. Took the Conch Train tour which was interesting. We lunched at BO%26#39;s Fishwagon, Blue Heaven, Turtle Kraal%26#39;s, Schooner%26#39;s Wharf, and Margaritaville - all were fun and had great food.

We went to Kelly%26#39;s, Sloppy Joe%26#39;s, Hog%26#39;s Breath, Lazy Gecko, and Fat Tuesday for happy hours. They all had entertainment - and most had happy hour specials. Had a beautiful dinner at Cafe Sole - a bit crowded and noisy, but the food was fantastic and the hotel gave us a coupon for a free bottle of wine which was quite good! (Hog Snapper is delicious!)

Also enjoyed the Hemmingway House and the Truman White House, had our picture taken at the Southernmost Point, climbed to the top of the lighthouse for a spectacular view of the island (well worth the climb), and had a sunset drink at the Hilton outdoor bar at Mallory Square.

Everything lived up to our expectations - we found the Tripadvisor advice to be accurate and really helpful.

We will be returning as soon as we can to do the things that we wanted to do but just didn%26#39;t have time for. We thought we would have more dinners at ';nice'; places, but found the bars were so fun at happy hour that we just stayed and ate there. Would like to take a sunset sail (the evenings were pretty chilly while we were there, so we decided to save that for another trip.)
