Young adults in May, FT Lauderdale a good choice?

Hey we%26#39;re two girls two guys (not couple) plannin a trip to Orlando one week, and looking for another week somewhere else. We are looking for a decent hotel with pool/beachfront, and somewhere near by a decent nightlife for the weekend. We%26#39;ve been looking at Miami Beach (South Beach) but the prices are more than usual for a decent hotel (i guess since thats where its happening).

Is Ft Lauderdale a good place for us to go? Or Daytona? Were planning the two middle weeks in May, we%26#39;re looking for nice beach/weekend/nightlife.

I think Ft Laud will be fine if you can find accom in your price range. It is not as %26#39;happening%26#39; as South Beach, but has plenty to offer.

The beach area has a bunch of bars and restaurants, although the area is a little tacky.

Las Olas runs from the beach into downtown, and tiwards the downtown area on Las Olas there are loads of bars, restaurants, galleries, boutique shops etc. Really nice area, which can be accessed by Water Taxi from the beach area.

A little further down the road is the Riverfront and Himmarshee Village, which is where most of the late night action takes place. Again bars and restaurants, but also a bunch of night clubs.

If you get bored of this area or wnat a variety, you can tkae a taxi to the Hard Rock casino and resort, whcih also has a bunch of of bars, restaurants, and clubs.
