Been to Orlando twice before and both times have tended to eat out in nice restaurants.
This time however we are on a budget, so will probably be eating more fast food than Nouvelle Cuisine (although I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll still manage a visit to Bahama Breeze and cafe tutu tango).
Anyway from my previous 2 visits the only fast food joint I really enjoyed was Checkers. Could anyone confirm if it is still there? Also, what other fast food places would you reccomend?
thanks
Dean
Best Fast FoodAs much as I hate to endorse fast food in general (although it is sooo good sometimes), I would say that the McDonalds near the corner of Sand Lake Road and International Drive is quite good. It%26#39;s one of those gourmet McDonalds (Bisto or something?) and they%26#39;ve got paninis and all different kinds of breads and meats. The prices are a couple of dollars higher than the usual McD%26#39;s fares, but last time I was there it was really good.
Also, Quiznos has some good-tasting subs (maybe too spicy for kids...spicy as in spices in their different sauces on the subs); and while I%26#39;m on the sub thing, I%26#39;ve never been to a Firehouse Subs I didn%26#39;t absolutely enjoy. I was a Subway man until my co-worker kept going on and on about how much better Firehouse was. I tried it and it was excellent. I still go to Subway, but not when I have the choice between the two.
Hope that helps!
Best Fast FoodWith so many Buffets in kissimme why choose a fast food resturant. Western Sizzlin is fantastic especially for the price. 5 for brakfast, 9-10 for lunch and dinner. More if you side order a steak.
Deano we travel with kids and fast food tends to be our preferred choice.
Checkers is still around at various places and we all like wendys which always seems to be very fresh.
One other we really like is the ponderosa steak restaurant (2 on i drive and 3 on the 192) costs for lunch / dinner $8.99 for a steak/chicken/fish dinner with full buffet included and deserts. You can eat loads if you wish. We have never had a bad time there.
Cici%26#39;s on i drive do an all you can eat buffet all day long for just $3.99 including pizza, pasta, sald and desert. Was ok when we tried but not fantastic, however we tried another cici%26#39;s in sanford and it was really good so it may well just depend on the day you go.
Have a good holiday.

If you go west on Sand Lake Rd. from the aforementioned McDonalds, there is another McDonalds which was built later and also has Panini%26#39;s and Bistro Gourmet selections, as well as regular menu items, and is two stories with kids entertainment. But what is even better is off of the second level, you have a view of Little Sand Lake, as well as Spring Lake. At Downtown Disney, Earl of Sandwich is good.
If you hit 441 (Orange Blossom Trail) just north of the Florida Mall, you have Backyard Burgers, which serves a good burger, and also Beto%26#39;s, which is Mexican fast food, but more authentic than any Tex-Mex place, and still reasonably priced (the salsa is hot, though!). And, in general, I like Chick-Fil-A, Popeyes chicken strips, and Pollo Tropical (latin/carribean accented, maybe the best fast food chicken, period).
There are no good fast food places.
There is a Checkers fast food right in front of, or right next to, Old Town on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee. Just ate there this past trip in November. Great burgers and shakes!!
If you like Italian, there is a Fazolis on Hwy 192 as well, although it is down past the Walmart and all the road construction on the east side. They have ';fast food'; Italian selections that are really good, but not too expensive.
If you%26#39;ve never experienced a Krystal burger, you should. They are small, square burgers that come with only mustard, pickle, and onions.....lots of onions. We in the South call them ';gut bombs';, but they sure are good!! There is a Krystal on Hwy 192 in Kissimmee as well, although there may be other locations too.
Just some additional ideas for you.
I like Panda Express in the malls. The burbon chicken is great. Better that the others that claim to make burbon chicken.
Best tip ...try to eat big at lunch time.Can%26#39;beat Olive garden lunch served until 3.30 p.m.Excellent unlimited soup salad and bread sticks for under $5 and soup and assorted entrees all under 10.Red Lobster also do lunch specials as does Steak and Ale.No need to eat in the old fast food familiars that we have at home American mid range chains are so affordable.
Publix groceries have very nice dillies in them. You can get great fresh subs there. You can also get cooked chickens and such there. If you have a kitchenette you can save even more money if you buy your meals there. No saying do that every night but buy stuff us usually don鈥檛 get back home. I don鈥檛 get Snow Crab Legs here so I go to Publix, buy 2 lbs and boil them in my place. I also pick up a pack of Land鈥檕鈥橪akes garlic butter and a fresh salad pack with dressing. After a long day I kick back with my quick meal, watch a movie and I鈥檓 in heaven. Better and cheaper than red lobster.
Sorry that sould be deli鈥檚 not dillies..lol
